How do we make a purchase on the Internet?

First of all, the customer makes an order on the website.After that, and through the website supplied by the bank´s company (La Caixa), the number and the expiration date of the credit/debit card will be required. This is what is called Virtual POS. The web site provides the security protocol SSL , that guarantees the confidential information, the reference number, the purchase prize and the company´s name.That way, the costumer will be able to check that the order coincides with the payment to be made. From April 2002, the security on internet has been improved in those sites called Secured Business, where a special keyword for purchases on Internet is requiered (PIC) along with the number and expiration date of the Visa or MasterCard Card. These cards are called "securized" cards.

What does "securize a card" mean?

Securize a card means to link the Visa, 4B or Mastercard Cards to a exclusive keyword to be used to purchase on the Internet. This Keyword can be either a personal message that is related to a Personal Identification Code (PIC) or a link between the card and a mobile phone number to confirm the purchase by SMS depending on the way your bank operates.

Advantages of paying with securized cards

By including the personal keyword to purchase on internet guarantees the identity of the custumer. The personal SMS ( only known by the customer and the bank) on your mobile phone avoids suplanting operations

¿Dónde puede pagar de forma segura?

A partir de abril de 2002, las entidades financieras europeas deberán dotar a sus comercios de la posibilidad de atender pagos "securizados", tanto para aceptar tarjetas Visa, como 4B Mastercard. A partir de abril de 2003, lo deberán hacer el resto de las entidades financieras. Puede comprobar que la web donde está comprando admite el pago con tarjetas securizadas si aparecen los logos de Verified by Visa y MarterCard Secure Code .
